Challenges and potentials for a sustainable development in the Danube Region: Contributing to Horizon 2020
The international Danube:Future Workshop on the role of cultural and natural heritage for the sustainable development of the Danube Region was held from April 8-10, 2015 at Alpen-Adria-Universität-Klagenfurt.
The organizing committee selected 30 participants, taking into account a balanced representation of the natural and social sciences and the humanities and the Danube countries.
The Workshop participants contributed actively to the White Paper which addresses the research needs in a scientific context, with special emphasis on the humanities and social sciences. Many workshop participants have previously participated in projects under the Framework Programs of the European Union and thus had expertise in the development of research programs. Further, they were familiar with sustainability studies and interdisciplinary research environments.
