THE PILOT PHASE OF DANUBE:FUTURE

Danube:Future was established as joint activity of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt, the University of Trieste and the University of Novi Sad as Core Partners. In September 2013, Danube:Future was accepted as a flagship project of the EU-SDR, Priority Area 7, Knowledge Society. In 2018, Danube University Krems joined the project as Core Partner.

The pilot phase of Danube:Future lasted from 2013 to 2019. In this period, the concept for the Danube:Future Interdisciplinary Schools was developed and five schools were held. During an International Danube:Future workshop, a “White Paper on the integrated sustainable development of the Danube river basin” was produced. Further, the targets and a structure for a Danube-Knowledge Base was developed and relevant publications were compiled and summarized.

After the completion of the pilot phase, the Management Committee of Danube:Future is pleased that the Danube Rectors Conference as former endorsing partner decided to take over Danube:Future as an important activity in the Danube River Basin to further strengthen the targets as a contribution to the sustainable development of the river basin.
